SAP ends ECC support in Dec 2027
Every ECC customer is racing the same deadline. We tell you which migration path actually fits — before you commit to one.
Get a readiness assessment
Tell us where you are and we'll reply within a working day — with what an assessment would cover.
- Evidence-based brownfield, greenfield or selective transition — not a house default
- Custom ABAP inventoried before anyone commits to a path
- A phased roadmap with a named decision-owner per step
What actually happens when ECC support ends
Being happy with ECC is a reasonable position today. It stops being a strategy in December 2027, and the exposure that creates is worth naming plainly rather than treating as a distant technicality.
- Mainstream maintenance and standard support from SAP
- Regular security patches for your ECC landscape
- The safety net that compliance and audit sign-off usually leans on
Three ways to get to S/4HANA
Brownfield — system conversion
Converts your existing system in place, preserving configuration, historical data and custom development. Lowest disruption, usually fastest — but it carries your existing technical debt forward, customisations included.
Greenfield — new implementation
A fresh S/4HANA build. Right when years of workarounds have accumulated, or the business has changed enough that the current setup no longer reflects how it runs. Higher effort — a re-implementation project with change management to match.
Selective data transition
A hybrid: a clean core with selected configuration and data brought across. Most control, and correspondingly the most complex to plan. Suits a business that wants a fresh start but can't abandon specific historical data.
The parts nobody quotes up front
Your custom ABAP
Gets inventoried and classified: compatible as-is, needs remediation, retirable because standard S/4HANA now covers it, or genuinely needs a rewrite. This is usually the single biggest driver of which path makes sense — which is why it belongs first, not mid-project.
Historical data and records
Not everything should migrate indiscriminately. What has to move for live operations, what has to be retained for compliance, and what can be archived instead are three different answers, and treating them as one is a common, expensive mistake.
Downtime and the real timeline
The technical cutover has a definite moment. The programme around it doesn't have to — pilot entities first, Fiori adoption staged afterwards, integrations migrated on their own schedule, all rehearsed against a fallback rather than hoped through.
What it costs
Nobody can quote this honestly before an assessment, and any firm that does before looking at your custom code and integration surface is guessing. We scope the assessment as a separate, smaller engagement so you get a real number before committing further.
How the assessment works
Deliberately titled an assessment, not a migration. The engagement we're proposing is the smaller, faster first step, not a commitment to us running the whole programme.
- 1
Landscape and custom code inventory
We assess your current ECC landscape — custom ABAP estate, data quality, integration surface, and how far configuration has drifted from standard.
- 2
Evidence-based path recommendation
Brownfield, greenfield or selective transition, recommended from what the assessment actually shows — not a default preference we walked in with.
- 3
A phased roadmap with a named owner per decision
Sequenced around your risk tolerance, not treated as one indivisible event. Every step has a decision-owner named inside your business, so the project doesn't stall waiting for sign-off.
- 4
What happens after is your call
You can take the roadmap and run with your own team or existing partner, or stay engaged with us for specific workstreams. We are not structured to run a full greenfield build with a resident team on your site — see below.
Timing on your own terms beats timing on SAP's. Starting the assessment now, rather than in 2027, is what buys you the choice of migration path in the first place.
Why talk to us about this
The most useful thing we can tell you is what we haven't done — because an assessment is a smaller, more honest first ask than pretending otherwise.
SAP S/4HANA, Business One, ABAP, Fiori and BTP
Listed capabilities we work with, and the platforms an assessment and roadmap would be built around. We're a senior team based in Gurgaon, not a body shop staffed up per project.
Our views on cutovers come from systems we operate
Retail Commerce OS is our own commerce operating system, live in production. When we have a view on data migration or integration-failure handling, it comes from something we run daily, not from a deck.
Our view on the run-up to December 2027 is public, not written for this page: migrations fail on scope creep, under-scoped data cleanup and a cutover plan built on hope rather than a rehearsed fallback — not on the technology.
We have not completed a client SAP ECC to S/4HANA migration. Said plainly, because it's the reason we're proposing an assessment as the first engagement rather than asking you to commit to a full programme up front.
Where we're the wrong choice
We'd rather tell you this now than have you find it out on a call.
You need a large team resident on-site for a full greenfield reimplementation
That is a different kind of firm from us — a large SAP-certified systems integrator with resident delivery capacity is who you want running that programme. We are built for assessment, advisory and defined workstreams, not a multi-year on-site build team.
You need execution to start within weeks, with no assessment first
We plan before we build. If your timeline has no room for a landscape and custom-code assessment before work starts, we are not the right first call.
You need someone to hold your SAP licensing or reseller relationship
We don't hold an SAP reseller partnership. You'll need one for procurement and licensing regardless of who does the implementation work.
You want a fixed price today, before anyone has looked at your system
We won't invent a number to win the enquiry. If a fixed quote with no assessment is what you need to move forward, that is a real disqualifier for working with us.
If one of those is you, we're not the right first call — and we'd rather say so than take the enquiry anyway.
